Whenever Jack Meeks came to mind, I always thought of a "gentle giant" . who was always there for his family.
When I got the call that my sister, Kathy, was near her end, I quickly hopped a plane from Seattle to Newark. My cousin Annie arrived from Montana to Newark & we landed within minutes of each other. There we were, 12:30 am on a miserable pouring rain night. Who was waiting curbside to pick us up in the middle of the night? Jack.
In almost every family picture of my life in New York....Jack is featured. I feel blessed and honored that he was a part of our family. He will be sorely missed.
Sending much love to my favorite family, The Meeks! Mary and Charlie

Mr. Meeks was and all of you are our family too us . Mr Meeks played such a major part of my life growing up along side with his son J.P. When J.P was in trouble I was right along side of him getting into to the same amount of trouble. I remember all our great memories on 27th street we would play man hunt climb the garage roofs skinny dip in neighbors pools and it was always Mr. Meeks that would say if you boys are going to do something don’t leave the evidence behind (hmmmm not saying anything John ) I guys that was the police officer in him He truly was my Dad's best friends . He was so loved and will be missed by us all. What wonderful memories we all share having been a part of Mr Meeks lifelong friendship.
May god help Mrs. Meeks , Mary and John and my buddy Jay
thru this and know that family is only a call away

Mr. Meeks death is such a huge loss to our family, to the world. I was blessed that he was in my life since the day I was born. His memory will remain with me forever . I can never forget the day me and John ran away together we didn’t run far but man for the time we were gone /hiding in the Meeks basement seemed like forever. Until Mr.Meeks decided it was time to call the men in blue .... with all the sirens coming we decided to show our faces screaming here we are. I knew at that point we were in trouble. With that being said I can never forget how tight I was hugged from Mr. Meeks I felt like he was going to crush me. He definitely was the second dad to me as well as my brothers and sisters. He will be missed dearly especially by my dad his partner in crime . Heaven definitely gain a angel when he called Mr.Meeks
With love and sympathy to Mrs Meeks, Mary, John, and J.P
May god keep you all in his prayers

Mary, Mary Frances, John & J.P.,
Words cannot express how sad we were to hear of our neighbor/friend (of 50 years) passing. Mr. Meeks and my father when together always stirred up trouble. I remember growing up on 27th street (like it was yesterday) the knocking on the stair wall so they could sneak out and get something to eat...mind you, us kids were in our beds sleeping. Their best comedy act was when they would make plans to go out eat for lunch and conveniently would find themselves in casino. Then the real act would begin as they would both blame each other for not wanting to leave the casino or who could not find the other one. Both wives (ironically named Mary should have had Saint in front of their names) would hear the same stories.
We have so many fond memories of Mr. Meeks and know that God really needed a good, humble man. Mr. Meeks had a heart of gold and would do anything for anyone. I hope the Meeks family finds peace knowing his legacy will continue on.
It’s not goodbye but farewell for now. Rest In Peace Mr. Meeks!!!!
God bless you all,
Linda & Anthony Trocchio (Maresca)

I will always remember Jack as a kind and loving neighbor, and a dear family friend. Jack loved his Wednesday night card games with “the guys “. My father and Jack were close buddies, always happy to help out one another. Whenever I hear his name, I think of the night that he singlehandedly carried my father down the stairs and got him to a hospital-I am forever grateful. Rest In Peace Jack ❤️

Mary Edna and family, I was shocked to learn of Jack’s passing. I immediately said a Rosary for you and your whole family. You and Jack were in my wedding party on December 16, 1967. Although I haven’t kept up, you have been in my prayers ever since. Your love as a couple has been an inspiration to everyone. All my love and condolences. Jim Klauser 206-498-6177
