Rose Russo (nee Speranza), a longtime Madison resident, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Wednesday, March 13, 2019. She was 102, and just one month shy of her 103rd birthday.

Rose was born on April 14, 1916 in Millburn and was a longtime Madison resident. Born just after the turn of the century, she lived an amazing life and was able to see so much history, change and advancement in the world in her lifetime.  Prior to retiring in 1980, Rose was a supervisor at Mepco Electra Inc. in Morristown for many years. She was dedicated to her career and was a wonderful mother & grandmother, and later, great-grandmother.

Rose was a devout Catholic and had a deep and profound faith in God. She was a parishioner of St. Vincent Martyr Church for most of her life and regularly attended mass when she was able.

Rose led a very active life. She was an avid bingo player and never turned down an opportunity to play a game. She played the lottery regularly and loved bowling and swimming in her younger years. She loved being outdoors and enjoying nature out under the sun.

Rose’s family was very dear to her and she was known for her excellent cooking skills among family and friends. She took great pride in preparing Italian meals and bringing everyone together to enjoy them. She had a special place in her heart for cats as well. She loved and cared for her cats with great care and attentiveness.

Rose was predeceased by her beloved husband, Ralph Russo; her son, Neil Russo; her daughter, Concetta Bednarik; her son-in-law, Richard Bednarik; and her grandson, Bryan Russo. She is survived by her brother, Anthony Speranza of Springfield; 5 grandchildren, Lynn, Rick, Rob, Debbie & Billy; six great-grandchildren, Erin, Cara, Robby, Madison, Becky & Ashley; and many nieces and nephews.
