Obituary of Orsola Concetta Viglione
Orsola Concetta Viglione (nee Palazzo), age 88, a longtime Madison resident, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 16, 2018 at Brighton Gardens in Florham Park after a long illness. Her life was dedicated to caring for others and putting loved ones, the elderly & young before herself. She will be deeply missed by all that knew her.
Orsola was born in Tocco Caudio, Italy on August 6, 1929 to the late Joseph and Eleonora Palazzo. She moved her young family to the US in 1966 and settled in Madison.
Orsola was a woman of tremendous faith in God and regularly walked to St. Vincent’s to attend Sunday Mass. She worked tirelessly to provide a comfortable life for her family as well as taking great pride in her home in Madison. She enjoyed gardening, travel and her greatest love was just being with her beloved family and friends.
Orsola was a chef and responsible for preparing meals for the elderly residents of the Garden Terrace Nursing Home in Chatham for 25 years, retiring in 1990. In her retirement Orsola would still be helping others, whether it be caring for a special child for many years or caring for her own grandchildren.
Orsola is leaves behind her two daughters, Angelina Benedict and her husband, Andrew of Springfield & Norina Rosado and her, husband Richard of Blairstown; two brothers, Frank Palazzo & Erminio Palazzo; one sister, Maria An; and three cherished granddaughters, Nina, Julie and Sofia.
Funeral services will begin at 9:00AM on Monday, July 23, 2018 at the Madison Memorial Home, 159 Main Street, Madison, followed by a 10:00AM Liturgy of Christian Burial celebrated at St. Vincent Martyr RC Church, Madison led by Fr. Darwin Lastra. Entombment will follow at Holy Rood Cemetery, Morristown. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to gather to celebrate Orsola’s life at a visitation from 2:00PM to 6:00PM on Sunday at the funeral home.
