Obituary of Marlene A. Guinter

Marlene A. Guinter, a resident of Chatham Township and Lavallette, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 12, 2022.

Marlene is survived by her three children, Janice Guinter, Donald Guinter (Letitia), & Diane Corcoran (Fred).   She had four cherished grandchildren, Greg Guinter (Abigail), Mark Guinter, Matthew Corcoran (Katie), & Ryan Corcoran as well as three great-grandchildren Grant, Jameson & Lucas.

Marlene was born in East Orange on February 23, 1934.  She was the loving daughter of the late Monroe and Ann Lyons. She was raised in Newark. As a young woman Marlene relocated to Florham Park, where she lived for over 50 years raising her own children.  It is there, where she met many cherished friends who became like family.  Upon retirement Marlene relocated to Chatham and Ocean Beach II.

Marlene was employed as the office manager at Magley Real Estate in Chatham.  She then became the Executive Secretary of Operations for Merrill Lynch in Morristown where she learned an affinity and love of following the stock market every day.  Marlene was appreciated for her dedication, work ethic, and teamwork.

She was an avid deep-sea fisherman since childhood and up to recent summers, was a regular on her favorite party boats out of Point Pleasant, NJ.  She often made cakes for the captains/mates and all enjoyed her company on the open sea.  All who loved Marlene knew it was a happy day when the fishing was good!!  Her neighbors at the beach loved watching her clean her catch.  Marlene and the beach crew often shared scrumptious dinners ending the evening with a fun game of Mexican Tiles or puzzling.

Marlene had endless energy and tackled every challenge with strength and intelligence.  She was wise, passionate, and never gave up.  Even up to her passing, her SUV was packed with her tackle and tool boxes ready for any adventure!!

Her love of dogs always brought her such joy and comfort, especially her Shaskha and Bandit “Boy!”

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a memorial visitation for Marlene on Wednesday, November 2, 2022 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Madison Memorial Home, 159 Main Street, Madison. A memorial service will be held at 6:00 PM during the visitation.

In lieu of flowers, charitable contributions may be made in Marlene’s memory to the Jersey Shore Animal Shelter in Brick Twp, NJ or a charity of your choice.
