Obituary of Martha Jean Weathersbee

Martha Jean Weathersbee (née Drummond), 78, of Madison, passed away Thursday, September 8, 2022 at Pine Acres Nursing Home in Madison, New Jersey.

Services are being held privately for family under the care of Madison Memorial Home.

Martha Jean was born in Carrollton, Georgia to Victoria and Ed Drummond on April 7, 1944.  She eventually relocated to New Jersey where she met and married Eddie “Edison” Weathersbee Jr.  She became a homemaker and seamstress and they raised their son, Edward Weathersbee.  After the dissolution of her marriage, she devoted her life to her son’s well-being.

Reading was very important to Martha Jean.  She believed the knowledge you gain from books could never be taken away from you and it would stay with you until the end of time.  Martha Jean also enjoyed researching discounts on products and services and always looking for the “Best Deal.”  She loved spreading her knowledge to her friends, family and even people she just met.  She became known as the “Coupon Queen.”  She especially enjoyed helping senior citizens and anyone who was disadvantaged and vulnerable.  She was quite proficient in playing a variety of card games and was always willing to challenge someone in the word game of Scrabble.

Martha Jean is survived by her son, Edward Weathersbee, his wife Zuleika of Jersey City and their two daughters, Rosangeles Hiraldo and Amy Hiraldo; her co-parents-in-law Vicente Ortiz and Rosa De Ortiz, her two sisters Sarah Walker and Marie Gómez; her nieces Lisa and her husband Matt Ronayne, Ann Drummond and Amy Drummond; her grandnieces Jessica and her husband Mike Carrillo, Erica Gómez and Nina Gómez; her grandnephew Tyler Kirkwood; her great-grandnephews Carlos, Ricardo and Alonzo; her great-grandnieces Maya and Layla; her former niece through marriage Stephanie Bush-Baskette; and former brothers-in law Alonzo Charles “AC” Bush and Art Gómez.

She is predeceased in death by her parents Victoria and Ed Drummond, her former husband, Eddie “Edison” Weathersbee Jr., her former sister-in law Dora Weathersbee Bush; and her brother-in law Lewis J. Walker.
