Obituary of Anna Marie Guerriero

Anna Marie Guerriero, of Madison (formerly of Greenwich Village, NY), died peacefully at home on Thursday, June 16, 2022 with her loving family by her side. She was 91.

Anna is survived by her two sons, Angelo and his wife Vincenza of Madison & Alfonso and his wife Sabina of Astoria, NY; one daughter, Mary Fardella and her husband Joseph of Gilbert, AZ; two first cousins, Dorothy White & John Castronova; two nieces, two nephews, eight grandchildren and one great grandchild.

In addition to her parents, Anna was predeceased by her beloved husband, the late Alfonso Guerriero, Sr. in 2016; and her two sisters, Catherine Pantoni & Gloria Del Rossi.

Anna was born in New York City on May 23, 1931 to the late Anthony and Josephine Prezioso. She was the middle daughter of hard-working Italian immigrant parents.

Anna was raised in Greenwich Village with her sisters, Catherine and Gloria. She was a graduate of Seward Park High School and after high school Anna took a job a glass factory. Shortly after she was introduced to Alfonso Guerriero. The couple married on May 26, 1957 in Alfonso’s hometown Mugnano Del Cardinale in Italy.

Anna and Alfonso lived in Spanish Harlem before they settled at One Haven Plaza on the Lower East Side in Greenwich Village, where they raised their family and would live for close to 50 years. Recently Anna relocated to Madison to be closer to her family and grandchildren.

For several years Anna assisted Alfonso with the operation of two concessions he owned at the Brooks Atkinson Theater and the New Apollo Theater. She also enjoyed cooking for her family and she was an avid reader of biographies.

Anna’s family was everything to her. She was a wonderful mother and was overjoyed to become a grandmother and great-grandmother. Anna was very proud of all her children and grandchildren.

Anna’s warmth, smile and good-hearted nature will be deeply missed by all that knew and loved her.
