Obituary of Carol Ann Preston
Carol Ann Preston, a longtime Madison resident, died peacefully on Wednesday, February 23, 2022, at Garden Terrace in Chatham. She was 76.
Carol is survived by her son Michael Preston and his wife Christine, and her three cherished grandchildren, Delia, Ben, and Sarah Kate, all of Madison.
In addition to her parents, Carol was predeceased by her beloved husband David Preston and her sister Elaine Suhocki.
Carol was born in Newark, NJ on March 16, 1945, to the late George and Rose Zboyan. She grew up in New Providence with her sister Elaine.
Carol was a 1963 graduate of Bayley-Ellard High School in Madison. She studied at the College of St. Elizabeth and later at Newark State College, from which she graduated with her bachelor’s degree in 1969.
Carol was a woman of tremendous faith and a parishioner of St. Vincent Martyr Parish in Madison for 49 years. She devoted her entire life to her family, whom she loved more than anything.
Carol’s proudest role was that of mother and grandmother. She loved to spend time with her grandchildren and was an avid gardener. She benefited from dear friends and kind neighbors during her many years living on Barnsdale Road and later Wilmer Street.
Carol will be deeply missed by her family and friends, but they take comfort in knowing she is at peace.
A celebration of Carol’s life will include a visitation from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Friday, February 25, 2022, held at the Madison Memorial Home, 159 Main Street, Madison.
Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend a Liturgy of Christian Burial held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, February 26, 2022, at St. Vincent Martyr Church, 26 Green Village Road, Madison. Those who wish to attend the Funeral Mass virtually can visit svmnj.org. For the safety of all, we respectfully require all those attending the visitation and funeral services to wear a mask.
Interment will follow at St. Vincent Martyr Cemetery, Madison.
