Obituary of Camille Sandello

Camille Sandello (née Filippone), a lifelong Madison resident, peacefully entered into eternal rest on Saturday, January 1, 2022 at her home. She was 85.

She is survived by three sons, Ralph Sandello, Joseph Sandello and his wife, Michele & Steven Sandello; three daughters, Cheryl Berntsen and her husband, Carl, Rosemary Sandello and her husband, Tom Fetter & Kathleen Sandello; one brother, Michael Filippone and his wife Bernadette; six grandchildren, Heather and her husband Pat Healy, Samantha and her husband Bill McLinden, Ralph, Matthew Berntsen and his husband Ron Campolungo, and Brittany & Michael; five great-grandchildren, Avery, Jake, Lily, Rory & Blaire; many nieces, nephews, cousins & dear friends. Many thanks to Kharen for her loving care.

In 2018 Camille lost her beloved husband of 61 years, Ralph A. “Dukie” Sandello and she was also predeceased by her granddaughter, Kimberly Berntsen.

Camille was born in Morristown on October 6, 1936 to the late Joseph and Mary Filippone. She was raised in Madison with her brother Michael and was a graduate of Bayley Ellard High School. After graduating she worked at the family’s taxi company in Madison as a dispatcher.

Camille was married to Ralph A. “Dukie” Sandello and the couple settled in Madison where they raised their family. The young couple welcomed six children into the family and remained very close to both their families, who both lived close to the family home in Madison.

Camille was a woman of profound faith and was a lifelong parishioner of St. Vincent Martyr Church.

Camille loved her family deeply. She was especially fond of the yearly family Fourth of July celebration, which began many years ago to commemorate both the holiday and her parents’ birthdays. Camille was also an avid sports enthusiast and loved attending her grandchildren’s sporting events throughout high school and college. She was a dedicated fan of the Mets, Rangers and NY Giants.

Camille will be deeply missed by her family and friends.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend a visitation to celebrate Camille’s life from 4:00PM to 7:00PM on Tuesday, January 4, 2022, held at the Madison Memorial Home, 159 Main Street, Madison.
