Obituary of Robert "Bob" A. McAdams

Robert "Bob" A. McAdams, a lifelong Madison resident, died peacefully at home on Monday, November 15, 2021 at the age of 88.

Bob was born in Rockaway, NJ to the late Richard and Madeline McAdams on February 15, 1933. He was raised in Madison and was a graduate of Madison High School. Bob’s lifelong passion for golf began in his teenage years when he became a caddie at Brooklake Country Club. He would have a special place in his heart for the game for the rest of his life.

When he was a young man, Bob first met his wife Dolly while roller skating at the Florham Park Rink. The young couple quickly became inseparable. Bob and Dolly were married on April 19, 1958 at St. Patrick’s Church, Chatham and Bob was quickly and warmly welcomed into her family.

Bob was always a true gentleman. He was a good-natured man who was even-keeled and never got upset over the trivial things. Bob helped many people throughout his life and would give a stranger in need the shirt off his back. Those that knew Bob understand the type of patient, kind man he was.

Bob had a long career with the Florham Park Borough Department of Public Works. He worked on the road department for most of his career and was well versed in all facets of the job. Florham Park relied heavily upon Bob’s dependability and skill. He took great pride in his work and will be remembered as a friendly colleague and an excellent role model to the younger generations that worked on the road department. He retired in 1994.

In his retirement, Bob devoted his time to his family, especially to his grandchildren who he loved dearly. Bob became an avid fisherman, both fresh and saltwater. He loved bowling, the NY Yankees and Giants, and never turned down an opportunity to watch golf games.

Bob will always be lovingly remembered by his family and friends for being an incredible father & grandfather, wonderful husband, dedicated friend, and kind gentleman. He will be deeply missed, although his family takes solace knowing he is truly at peace.

In addition to his parents, Bob was predeceased by his brother, Harold McAdams. He is survived by his beloved wife, Dolly McAdams (née Allocco); his daughter, Donna Del Pezzo and her husband, Ralph of Stirling; two cherished grandchildren, Michelle Cervone and Sandy Del Pezzo; two great-grandchildren; many loving nieces and nephews; and many dear friends and colleagues.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend a visitation to celebrate Bob’s life from 4:00PM to 8:00PM on Thursday, November 18, 2021, held at the Madison Memorial Home, 159 Main Street, Madison. Funeral services will begin at the funeral home at 9:00AM on Friday, November 19, 2021, followed by a 10:00AM Liturgy of Christian Burial at St. Vincent Martyr Church, 26 Green Village Road, Madison. For those that wish, you may attend the Funeral Mass virtually via livestream by visiting www.svmnj.org. *For the safety of all, the family kindly requests that all those attending the visitation and funeral services wear a mask regardless of vaccination status.*

Interment will be held at St. Vincent’s Cemetery in Madison.
