Obituary of Andre L. Piggery

Andre Lloyd Piggery peacefully entered into eternal rest after a long illness on Sunday morning, September 19, 2021 at the Morristown Medical Center, Morristown, New Jersey.

Andre was born on August 12,1953 in Morristown, New Jersey to the late Joseph L. Piggery and Agnes G. Hayes.

Andre was reared as a child in Madison, New Jersey and was educated in the Madison Public School System graduating from Madison High in 1971. He was an avid wrestler for 4 years earning a district championship in 1970.

He was employed with Asset Management Systems (A.M.S.) from 1998-2013.

Andre attended Johnson C. Smith University, Charlotte, North Carolina graduating as Class President with honors in 1975. He was a member and served as 1st Vice Basileus of the Rho Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Inc. which he held in high esteem.

He was a dedicated member of the First Baptist Church, Madison, New Jersey under the pastorship of Rev. Dr. A. Craig Dunn. He was a devoted Deacon in Training. Andre attended Bible Study, Sunday School, and sang in the Men’s Choir and Unity Choir.  He also served as Co-Leader of the Men’s Ministry.

Andre, AKA “Swamp Water” and “Monk,” was well-liked by all he associated with. His life was full of love, laughter, family and friends. He always knew how to have a good time. Andre played on Sallie’s Construction Men’s softball league, was an avid bowler and loved watching westerns, drinking Budweiser, eating chocolate chip cookies and hamburgers. Andre loved music and dancing and would “cut a rug” with anyone, young and old. You could always find him in attendance at his nephew’s games and Madison sports.

His other pastimes included reading the Bible and newspapers and babysitting the family dog.

He always looked forward to and enjoyed annual visits with his daughters who were the joy of his life. He was a proud grandfather to Eryn and absolutely adored her.

Andre leaves to cherish his memory and mourn his loss, 2 loving daughters; Nova Jelere Sallie of Dallas, Texas and Andrea Lynne Sallie of Dallas, Texas; 1 Sister; Jovita Lynne Fant (Corlus) of Madison, New Jersey; Granddaughter Eryn Dru Young of Dallas, Texas; 5 nephews; Edward Sallie (Kelly) of Mt. Tabor, New Jersey; Julia Lostocco, whom he regarded like a niece; and a host of cousins, extended family, and friends.

He will certainly be missed by all and will always hold a special place in our hearts!
