Obituary of Alice Marie Artigliere

Alice Marie Artigliere, a longtime Madison resident, died peacefully at her home on Sunday, August 22, 2021 after a long illness. She was 90.

Alice was born in Paterson on November 25, 1930 to her loving parents, the late Giovanni and Lucia DeMattia. She was raised in Paterson with her brother and sister and was the youngest of the three DeMattia children. Alice graduated from Central High School in Paterson and shortly after was introduced to her husband, Orlando Artigliere, Sr.

After their wedding, Alice and Orlando settled in his hometown Madison on North Street. Alice worked at the Seely Insurance Co. of Morristown until the couple welcomed two sons and she became a full-time mother to raise her family. The family relocated to Kinney Street where they have lived since. Alice was a faith-filled woman and a longtime parishioner of St. Vincent Martyr Church.

Alice truly devoted her life to her family. She was a wonderful wife & mother and was delighted when she became a grandmother. Alice treasured her close-knit family and enjoyed visiting with her siblings, and spending time with her brother and sister-in-laws. Alice enjoyed the holidays when her entire family gathered at the family home and she cooked holiday meals for everyone. She was an expert cook and everyone always looked forward to her Italian specialties.

Alice was predeceased by her beloved husband, Orlando Artigliere, Sr. in 1990; her brother, John DeMattia; and her sister, Louisa Orr. She is survived by her two sons, Orlando Artilgliere, Jr. of Dallas, TX & David Artigliere and his wife, Tracey of Madison; her two cherished grandchildren, Alexis Marie Artigliere and David Orlando Artigliere; and many loving nieces & nephews.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend a visitation from 4:00PM to 8:00PM on Thursday, August 26, 2021, held at the Madison Memorial Home, 159 Main Street, Madison.
