Obituary of Dr. Francisco Rafael Vazquez Pica
Dr. Francisco Rafael Vazquez Pica, of Dover, formerly of Puerto Rico, passed away peacefully surrounded by the love of his family on Thursday, June 10, 2021, at the age of 45.
Francisco was born in Arroyo, Puerto Rico on July 24, 1975, to his beloved parents Francisco Vazquez and Sylvia Pica. He grew up in Puerto Rico with his brother and sister.
Francisco was a giving person with a healing presence and always had a passion for helping people. This passion for helping and giving to others led him to a career as a clinical psychologist. He also became a college professor and taught at the University of Puerto Rico, Ponce Campus for 15 years. Francisco loved his work and was very devoted to his patients and his students, who affectionately referred to him as “Professor Pica.”
Francisco loved playing video games, especially RPGs like Monster Hunter and Final Fantasy 7, to name a few. He was a coffee lover and enjoyed going to coffee houses with his family. He enjoyed metal music, especially his favorite band Iron Maiden, and he also liked Lord of the Rings. He was an intelligent, loving, and humble person, but above all, he was a devoted and caring husband, son, and brother who will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Francisco is survived by his parents Francisco Vazquez and Sylvia Pica; his stepfather Ramon Ramos; his beloved wife of 4 years Alnellys Irizarry; his sister Marimer Vazquez and her husband Agustin; his brother Carlos Vazquez and his wife Fabi; his mother-in-law Alicia Vargas; his brothers-in-law Joel David and Jaimito; his sister-in-law Aimee; his niece Ayelen, and many cousins, extended family members, and dear friends.
A memorial service for Francisco will be held for his friends and family in Puerto Rico at a later date.
