I had the pleasure of working with Tom at the State Education Department for more than twelve years and will miss him very much. Tom often shared his memories of growing up in Park Slope Brooklyn, where I live, and we also discussed trips to Ireland and our family roots there. But it was when talking about Liam and Thomas that his eyes would light up. When you boys were little, he delighted in your choice of Halloween costumes and requests for Santa and, as you grew into young men, he took much pride in your achievements. His family meant everything to Tom. I will keep you all in my prayers.

I met Tom when I started working at the State Education Department in February 2015. Tom was so kind and gentle to me as I learned about the job and we discovered that we loved to discuss history. We often ended up discussing Chester A. Arthur, a former U.S. President. We worked on projects together and he was so easy to work with.
The main thing I remember about Tom is the love he had for his family. He always talked about the latest going on with his sons, and it was so clear that Tom dedicated his life to his wife and sons. He was so proud of his family!
Rest in peace, Tom; may you and your family be blessed forever.
Fondly,
Nicole Check

Antoinette, Liam, and Thomas - our prayers are with you all. As I watch this beautiful celebration of Tom's life and hear Fr. George talk about how he lived the Gospel, I realize that the world is a better place because of Tom walking the walk and talking the talk for his faith. May you hold tightly all of the beautiful memories you have and live life as Tom would have wanted you to - with God first. May he rest in the eternal peace and grace of our Father. In Christ - Michele Shaffer and Family

I had the privilege of working with Tom at the State Education Department in the Brooklyn office. As I think about Tom, his love and pride of his family is what stands out the most. Tom would tell me about his sons and what they were doing, as he spoke there was an amazing sparkle in his eyes! I heard about scouting and camping. As he spoke, I heard the great love he had for his boys! I was blessed to have known Tom, albeit a short time. May you all find strength in the Love of family and friends and the blessings of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Tom was a colleague at the State Education Department. He was always so kind, gentle, and respectful. He loved talking about his sons and his family. He will be missed by all of us. I pray that God comforts his family in their sadness and sorrow. May faith be their consolation and eternal life be their hope. Rest in peace, Tom.

I met Tom in 2015 when I started working at the NY State Education Department. He was very kind and patiently answered all my questions. After a few days of hearing Tom speak I turned to him and asked him if he was the Tom Walsh that worked at Theracare of NY in 2003-2004. When he said yes, I was shocked because Tom was my mentor at Theracare. When I told him this, we both laughed. Tom had been my officemate since 2015. Every Monday we would talk about our weekend and kids. I will always remember how his face lit up when he spoke about his sons and their camping adventures with the Boy Scouts and how proud he was every time they earned a badge. Every Holiday he would share how his wife’s family had big gatherings with lots of food and they always made sure there was chicken because he did not like fish. Tom was always ready to share the history and geography of Brooklyn, as well as childhood memories of growing up in Brooklyn. He was a proud father and husband. Tom was always professional and courteous with an interesting sense of humor.
To Mrs. Walsh, Liam, and Thomas my deepest condolences, my thoughts and prayers are with you. God bless.
Tom, I will miss our Monday morning chats, rest in peace.

I met Tom approximately 15 years ago at work. During this time we shared professional and personal stories. Tom always came across as warm, genuine, and decent. I remember fondly how a somewhat reserved Tom would glow with love and pride while talking about his family. It was clear how important they were for Tom. He also was kind and thoughtful towards all in the office. To the Walsh family, my deep condolences. I am grateful that he was a part of my life. He will not be forgotten.

I worked with Tom at the State Education Department for many years. He was a very kind person and never had anything but good things to say about others. He was a gentleman with a ready laugh and always had really interesting facts to share on different topics. We used to talk about what it was like growing up in Brooklyn and how he found such pride in tracing his Irish roots. He was also very proud of his boys and they were a very special source of happiness for him. The office will not be the same without him - he will be missed. My deepest condolences to the family - you are all in my thoughts and prayers. Colleen Liddie.
