Obituary of Barbara A. Leverentz

Barbara A. Leverentz (née McLaughlin), a longtime Madison resident, passed away peacefully at her home on Wednesday, March 17, 2021 surrounded by the love of her family. She was 77.

Barbara was born in Morristown on April 3, 1943 to the late William and Josephine McLaughlin (née Pinto). She was raised in Morristown and attended Morristown High School.

Barbara took a job as a clerk at Woolworth’s in Madison, but her true joy was caring for her beloved family. She was a faith-filled woman and was a lifelong parishioner of St. Vincent Martyr Church in Madison. Barbara enjoyed cooking, especially Italian food, and driving around to go shopping. She loved to be out and about and was described as a social butterfly. Barbara also liked going down the shore to LBI with her family.

Barbara was a classy woman with an extremely outgoing and honest personality. She had a vibrant spirit and a zest for life, and she will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

In addition to her parents, Barbara was predeceased by her brothers Peter, William, and James McLaughlin. She is survived by her beloved sons Carl Leverentz and his wife Shelia of Dover, and Christopher Leverentz and his wife Simone of Austria; three cherished grandchildren Samantha, Lucien, and Dylyelah; one treasured great-grandchild, Amelia; and many nieces, nephews, and dear friends.

Funeral services are being held privately for Barbara’s family under the direction of Madison Memorial Home.
