Obituary of Eleanor Serillo

Eleanor C. Serillo passed from this life and into the arms of her Lord on Friday, February 5, 2021 at the age of 100 years. She died peacefully at Community Medical Center in Toms River after a brief illness that was not related to the current pandemic.

Eleanor was a woman of strength and dependability. No one who met her could ever believe how old she was. Her door and her heart were always open to her family & friends, and she leaves behind a legacy of love and faithfulness.

Born Eleanor C. DiFalco on July 10, 1920 in Morristown to the late Vincent and Gaetana DiFalco, she was raised in Morristown with her sister and four brothers. Growing up during the Great Depression made a tremendous impression on Eleanor that would remain with her for the rest of her life. She remained thankful for her family, friends and everything good life afforded her. Eleanor always kept a positive outlook on life and did not stress over the little things, both of which she partly attributed her longevity to. Eleanor never took anything or anyone for granted.

Eleanor moved to Madison after marrying her dear husband, the late Jerry Serillo. Eleanor and Jerry were blessed with two sons, Gerald and Bo Serillo. She had many wonderful, loving memories of her family that she always kept close to her heart. Eleanor and Jerry relocated to Bayville in 1988, where she has resided comfortably since.

Eleanor kept her hands busy all her life. Prior to her retirement, she was as a salesperson for a few different drug stores and department stores in the Madison area. Eleanor was talented at knitting and sewing, and she loved shopping.

In addition to her parents, Eleanor was predeceased by her beloved husband, Jerry Serillo in 1992; her son, Bo Serillo; her brother Louis DiFalco; her sister, Emma Serillo; and one grandson, Nicholas Serillo. She is survived by her son, Gerald “Jerry” Serillo; daughter-in-law, Deborah Serillo; three brothers, Vincent, Albert, and Mario DiFalco; one cherished grandson, Michael Serillo; her niece, Rita; and her grand-niece, Lauren.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend a visitation on Wednesday, February 10, 2021 from 2:00PM to 4:30PM held at the Madison Memorial Home, 159 Main Street, Madison. A Funeral Service will be celebrated at 4:30PM at the funeral home directly following the visitation. Interment will be held privately for the family.

Charitable contributions may be made in Eleanor’s memory to St. Jude Children Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105. This was Eleanor’s request to everyone.
