Rest in peace, sweet Cathy. You touched the lives of so many children through your dedicated and loyal service at St. Patrick's School. It was my honor to be your colleague, back in 1988 when we were young, and then more recently. I will always remember your kind smile, your energy and laughter, and the sparkle in your eyes. I send my sympathy and prayers to your family.

Cathy was a kind and generous mentor to me. It was a beautiful experience to witness the joy she brought to the many students she taught. She delighted in the personalities of her students and they felt her love and affection. She worked hard to make her classroom an engaging and joyful environment and it was a privilege to be her 4th grade partner. Her lovely smile, her compassion and sheer delight in her students was wonderful to behold. My sympathy to her family, she spoke about all of you often.

We are so sorry to learn of the loss of your sister, and our cousin Cathy. I remember her pretty smile when I saw her at family gatherings. My sister Anne and I were just saying that in this picture she really resembles her/our grandmother! Our thoughts are with all of you at this sad time.

Dear Cousins Joann and Joseph Aunt Mary Nigro and our family is so heartbroken to hear of Cathy's passing. We have such fond memories of Cathy at many of the families gatherings and occasions we have shared through the years. Cathy was always upbeat and happy and always had a smile and kind word. A Bright Light has gone out but there is one more Beautiful Angel in Heaven to guide us all back home to the Lord. May He show you comfort and peace during this trying time. God Bless you.

My heartfelt sympathy goes out to Cathy’s family. I knew her as a colleague, principal, and parent/grandparent, but what I cherish most was being Cathy’s friend. Cathy was light to her students, parents, coworkers, friends, and family.
She lived her faith and teaching vocation in a caring way, always standing up for what was right. As a teacher, she knew her students, loved them, and taught them to grow without ever raising her voice. When two students didn’t get along, she took it upon herself to teach them how to collaborate on school projects. Students who came in from recess and complained about another’s behavior were each handed a “trouble-tracker”. She would laugh and say that by the time they filled it out, the dispute was resolved. Her religion classes were my favorite because she sat in a circle with her students and facilitated the most inspiring conversations about their faith. Since Cathy was a master teacher, she successfully taught every subject but social studies was closest to her heart. Because she was always willing to help me, I put her leadership skills to use in teacher mentoring and professional development. She and I participated in many workshops because she was eager to continually hone her teaching skills and implement effective strategies in her classroom. Even though these were work-related, we enjoyed them because she was fun and had a great sense of humor. I remember the great time we had when we flew to Washington, DC to accept the Blue Ribbon for St. Pat’s.
I only wish that Cathy had more time to be with us before she went to her eternal home. She knew that God was with her during the trials of her final years, and I believe Cathy is free of sorrow and experiences everlasting joy with the Lord and her friends and family who have gone before her. Blessings, Marian

My cousin "Kiki". I'll always have fond memories, even as kids, of sitting at the kitchen table at our grand mothers's house in Madison. No matter the chaos of so many cousins (especially our brothers) running in and out. Keiki aways showed just one emotion. Pure joy. Her constant smile, sparkling eyes, gentle voice, patience, and kind words will be remembered by all who knew and loved her. I'm sorry she's gone.

My sincere condolences to the family of Miss A. I actually did not know Miss A, but she taught my sister, Lucy, and my sister adored her teacher. Miss A was also a great colleague and dear friend of my mother, Katherine. Seeing this beautiful picture of Miss A makes me feel very sad that I will never know a person my family speaks so fondly of. My thoughts and prayers are with you all; I hope you find comfort that dear Miss A is at peace.

One of the first and best people I met when I went to teach Band at St. Patrick School. Cathy was my door to the fourth grade beginners...and their biggest cheerleader. She will be missed by SO many, who learned from her, taught with her, and laughed with her! Blessings and Love.

Cathy Auriemma was a beloved teacher of decades of St Pat's schoolchildren. If you wanted a model of a parochial schoolteacher, Cathy was it. I was fortunate to be her coworker for 5 years but even more blessed to have had her teach my son. I suspect St Jude himself welcomed her to heaven for the hundreds of thousands of dollars she raised over the years from the mathathon fundraiser she coordinated tirelessly every year. One consolation we have is knowing she was reunited with her sidekicks and forever friends, Judy & MariJo. Godspeed Cathy, and May the angels welcome you to paradise.
