Obituary of Christopher "CJ" Szotak

January 25, 2001 - July 29, 2020 (Age 19)

With profound sadness we announce the passing of Christopher "CJ" Szotak, our loving and devoted son, brother, grandson & nephew to all whose lives he touched, on July 29, 2020.

CJ came into this world as a twin on January 25, 2001 in Morristown to his proud parents, George and Karin Szotak. He was a lifelong resident of Madison and 2019 graduate of Madison High School. CJ recently completed his freshman year at the County College of Morris and had plans to continue on to further his higher education.

CJ was a loving son and brother who loved and cared for his family deeply. He was also an animal lover who especially loved his two dogs, Potter and Dennie, as well as his sister’s cat, Lincoln.

During his high school years, wrestling was CJ’s passion. He always remained active, loved weightlifting and fitness in general. He religiously went to the gym six days a week never fail, and also had several part-time jobs at local gyms.

CJ was a very detail-oriented individual who did things his way and didn’t mind what other people thought. He loved the small things in life that gave him joy and the thrill of lighting fireworks on summer nights.

CJ is predeceased by both paternal grandparents, Ida and George Szotak, Sr. & his maternal grandfather, Latanzio Randazzo. He is survived by his parents, Karin and George Szotak of Madison; two sisters, Allynn Szotak and her fiancé, Nick Thompson of Randolph & his twin sister, Kiersten Szotak of Madison; his grandmother Beverly Randazzo (nee Burner); his godfather, Steve Cherevko and his wife, Chris; three aunts, Auntie Arlena Boyle (nee Randazzo) and her husband, Chip, Aunt Elinore Payne (nee Szotak) and her husband, Chuck, & Aunt Patti Ascolese; many loving cousins, and the Parchment family, his very dear & lifelong friends.

Only relatives & close friends are invited to attend a visitation to celebrate CJ’s life held on Monday, August 3, 2020 from 5:00PM to 9:00PM at the Madison Memorial Home, 159 Main Street, Madison. A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, August 4, 2020 at 10:00AM at St. Vincent Martyr Church, Madison. For those that wish, you may attend the Funeral Liturgy virtually via live-stream by visiting  www.svmnj.org and viewing the mass on the main webpage of the church beginning at 10:00AM. Interment will be held privately for the family.

**Visitors to the funeral home and church are asked to wear masks and practice proper social distancing. In order to maintain a safe number of people in the funeral home, we kindly & respectfully ask that after paying your respects you give others the same opportunity by making your visit brief.**

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested charitable contributions may be made in CJ’s memory to National Alliance on Mental Illness or to the ASPCA.
