Obituary of Mary Beth Stolworthy

Mary Beth Stolworthy, 58, of Morris Plains, NJ, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, May 7, 2020 surrounded by family. Her passing was unrelated to the current viral pandemic.

Above all, Mary Beth was a loving mom and wife and was devoted to her family. She was an optimist, had a sweet disposition and was easygoing. Mary Beth married her husband Pasquale (Pat) Musacchio in 1985 and had a wonderful 34 year marriage. Together, they built a family full of love and laughter with their daughters, Megan and Laura. Having always loved school, education was a top priority and Mary Beth guided and encouraged both of her daughters to accomplish their goals and pursue their passions.

Mary Beth will be remembered for the importance she placed on connecting with the people in her life. She deeply valued her close friendships from all aspects of her life, from childhood, high school and college, along with the many friendships she made in town and through work and activities. Mary Beth will also be remembered for her quiet leadership and the example she set when no one was watching. Amongst her most important values were working hard and spreading kindness. Mary Beth’s spirit will live on forever with her family and friends and will inform every act, thought and decision made.

Mary Beth was a proud New Jerseyan and enjoyed taking advantage of everything New Jersey had to offer from the “beach house” and “ski lodge” in Morris Plains. She was joyfully active in many pursuits, including playing tennis, reading, skiing, kayaking, watching movies, and going down the shore. Mary Beth also had an appreciation for the arts and took every chance to attend the theater, visit museums and other cultural events. In addition to her recreational interests, whenever a volunteer was needed, Mary Beth answered the call. She was a Troop Leader for her daughters’ Girl Scouts Troops and participated in many St. Virgil’s Church volunteer opportunities. She was always willing to try something new and fostered friendships along the way.

Mary Beth was the youngest of three siblings of Eleanor M. and Charles C. Stolworthy of River Edge, NJ. She grew up in River Edge and attended River Dell High School. Mary Beth went on to Rutgers University where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree with a double major in Political Science and Communications. She continued her education at Rutgers and achieved a Master of Business Administration. Most recently, Mary Beth worked as an Environmental Claims Specialist for Zurich North America and previously held various corporate positions ranging from copywriter to risk management. She was also very proud of the seven years she served on the Morris Plains School Board where she held positions as Vice President, Finance Chair and Legislative Liaison.

Mary Beth is survived by her husband Pat Musacchio, daughters Megan and Laura Musacchio, brother James Stolworthy and sister Catherine Stolworthy, nephew Bradford Stolworthy, grand-nephews Brandon and Roland Stolworthy, niece-in-law Kerry Stolworthy, sister-in-law Anna Musacchio, brother-in-law James Snee, nieces Isabel and Marisa Snee, sister-in-law Michele Musacchio, brother-in-law Sergio Musacchio, nephew Luca Musacchio, mother-in-law Filomena Musacchio and father-in-law Carlo Musacchio. She also leaves many cousins and other family members, friends and coworkers who will immensely and enduringly miss her. Mary Beth was predeceased by her parents, Eleanor and Charles Stolworthy.
