Obituary of Carmen G. Miller
Carmen Gloria Miller, a longtime East Orange resident, was surrounded by lots of love when she went home to be with the lord on April 24, 2020.
Carmen was born in St. Elizabeth, Jamaica on December 14, 1934 to the late Daniel and Isabella Miller. She grew up in Jamaica in a large, close family. She graduated high school in Jamaica and utilized her love of sewing to become a seamstress. She met her beloved husband, the late Clarence Miller, in Jamaica.
In 1981, Carmen decided to emigrate to the United States in order to make a better life for herself and her family. After settling in East Orange, she started doing childcare and later, she became a Home Health Aid.
Carmen lived for her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren whom she helped raise. She was a loving, kind, and giving woman, who always did her best to provide for others and make sure they were happy. She was an excellent cook, preparing elaborate feasts for almost every meal. All were invited to eat Carmen’s cooking, no matter who they were, and Carmen passed this trait to a few of her grandchildren. Carmen also loved reading and talking on the phone, and had a deep love and faith in God, but above all, her highest priority and greatest love was her family.
In addition to her parents, Carmen was predeceased by her beloved husband Clarence Miller; 5 brothers; and 2 sisters. She is survived by her brother Howard Miller of Jamaica; her 4 sons; her 2 daughters; her many cherished grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and close friends.
Visitation and funeral services for Carmen will be held privately for the family and are under the direction of Madison Memorial Home. Private interment will be held at Rosedale Cemetery, Montclair, NJ.
