Obituary of Rose Del Vecchio

Rose Del Vecchio, of Bedminster (formerly Irvington), peacefully entered into eternal rest on Thursday, April 16, 2020. She was 97.

Rose was born in Barletta, Italy to the late Bartolomeo and Paqua Del Vecchio. She and her family emigrated to the United States in 1931 when she was a young girl. They settled in New Jersey with her parents; her sisters, Mary & Clara; and their brother, Cosmo. Rose was a longtime Irvington resident and a very active & devoted member of the historic Old First Presbyterian Church in Newark for decades. She lived in the family home in Irvington for 75 years, before relocating to Bedminster to live with her niece, Charlotte Hill.

Prior to retiring in 1992, Rose had a long career as a bookkeeper with the H&R Block Accountants in Union.

Rose was a very warm and outgoing person. She loved music, choral singing and was a talented musician. She was experienced at playing the piano, accordion and violin.

In her senior years, Rose was a volunteer at the Ward Homestead in Maplewood, NJ. She loved her family deeply, cared for everyone and had a tremendous heart. She will be deeply missed and her memory cherished forever.

Rose was predeceased by her parents and siblings. She is survived by her beloved niece, Charlotte Hill of Bedminster.

Funeral services will be held privately for the family and are under the direction of the Madison Memorial Home. Private entombment will be held at Hollywood Memorial Park, Union.
