Obituary of Baby Daphne Day Smith

Our precious little angel, Daphne Day Smith, beloved infant daughter of Elijah and Madeline Smith of Madison, went to be with our Lord on Sunday, March 8, 2020. She was 9 weeks old.

Daphne was here with us only a short time, but while she was here she warmed everyone’s heart, bringing joy and happiness to everyone’s life she touched.

The family will receive friends at a visitation held from 4:00PM to 8:00PM on Thursday, March 12, 2020 at the Madison Memorial Home, 159 Main Street, Madison. Funeral services for Daphne will begin at 10:00AM on Friday, March 13, 2020 at the Chatham United Methodist Church, 460 Main Street, Chatham. She will be laid to rest at St. Vincent’s Cemetery, Madison.

Daphne is survived by her parents, Madeline and Elijah Smith; two brothers, Walker and Dawson Smith; maternal grandparents, Will and Mary Day; paternal grandparents, Warren and Margery Smith, and Susan DeAstris; great-grandparents, Billy and Janel Stephens; along with many loving aunts, uncles and cousins. Daphne was predeceased by her great-grandparents, Margaret and Nathaniel Burt & Catherine and John Day.
