Obituary of Carmela D. Tribune
Carmela Dolores Tribune (nee Sapio), a lifelong Madison resident, died peacefully on Sunday, February 16, 2020 at the age of 89.
Carmela was born in Morristown on April 16, 1930 to the late Joseph and Frances Sapio. She was raised in Madison in a loving family of three children, graduating from Madison High School in 1948. Carmela married her beloved husband, the late Ralph Tribune in 1953 and the couple settled in Madison where they would raise their family.
Carmela had a career with the Chubb & Sons Insurance Company in Bridgewater for over thirty years in their records department, prior to her retirement. In her retirement she remained very active both socially and with numerous hobbies & interests. Carmela loved people in general and everyone loved her. She had a very close-knit group of friends and was a dependable & loving mother, sister, grandmother, great grandmother and friend who was always there during difficult times, willing to help however she could.
She was an avid traveler, loved day trips to Atlantic City with friends to try her luck on the slots and was known by close friends and family to enjoy the occasional Scotch. Carmela was a very talented knitter and was proud of her designer shoe selection. She was active with both the Madison and Chatham Senior Citizen’s.
Carmela’s warmth, love and friendship will be forever remembered and she will be deeply missed by all who loved and knew her.
In addition to her parents, Carmela was predeceased by her husband, Ralph Tribune in 1992 and her sister, Fanny Massaro. She is survived by her daughter, Gina Trimiglozzi and her husband, Jim of Madison; one brother, Joseph Sapio and his wife, Barbara of Delaware; two grandsons, Jamey Trimiglozzi & Christopher Trimiglozzi and his wife, Kirsten; two great grandchildren, Klara and Dante; and many dear friends.
Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend a visitation to celebrate Carmela’s life on Wednesday, February 19, 2020 from 4:00PM to 8:00PM at the Madison Memorial Home, 159 Main Street, Madison. Funeral services will begin on Thursday at 9:00AM at the funeral home, followed by a 10:00AM Liturgy of Christian Burial celebrated at St. Vincent Martyr RC Church, Madison. Interment will follow at St. Vincent’s Cemetery in Madison.
