It was with great sadness that I discovered your sad loss . My experience of John was of a wonderful teacher, mentor and friend during the time I spent at Fordham 1988-89, I recall with gratitude his warmth and kindness and have a special memory of his invitation to your home on 4th July 1989 and meeting you his wonderful family. I returned to Ireland shortly afterwards where I have ministered since. I have never forgotten his wise and kindly presence and teaching. May God console you in your bereavement and be sure of remembrance in prayer. May he indeed rest in peace in the loving presence of the God he so effectively mediated to others. Paul

So sorry to hear this sad new. We corresponded to meet again discussing some valuable knowledge :( He was one of the best professor I had in my academic life. We had a good relationship during the years, and He contributed to my academic studies with his impressive knowledge. He is a big loss for me, and for academia. Thank you so much for everything you taught us. May God bless you with all His compassion. May God give patience to your family and lovely daughters, please accept my sympathy for your loss. Dear Elias Family I always admired John and knew him much less well than I would have liked but our paths didn't often cross. I teach in the Psychology department. I believe he will be remembered for being a person of integrity who lived his life so well. He gave so much to education and the people in the field. I am so sorry to hear of Dr. Elias’ death. He was an author I studied at Providence College in RI while pursuing an MA in Religious Studies. We used to refer to him as “one of the good guys”. Much peace and gratitude.
