Obituary of Harry J. Deluca

Harry J. Deluca, a lifelong Madison resident, died peacefully on Monday, April 29, 2019 at the Lyons VA Medical Center in Basking Ridge. He was 72.

Harry was born in Morristown on May 1, 1946 to the late Harry and Theresa Deluca. He was raised in Madison and was a lifelong resident, graduating from Madison High School. Harry served honorably in the US Army during the Vietnam war.

Harry was the owner and operator of convenient stores throughout Morris county over for over 30 years. The stores Harry owned through the years were located in the Madison train station, Morristown, Lake Hiawatha, with his longest running location in Morris Plains. Harry retired several years ago. In his retirement, Harry loved getting out on the road and taking long car trips for the day.

In addition to his parents, Harry was predeceased by his wife, Margaret Deluca in 2017. He is survived by his son, Michael Deluca of Lincoln Park; his daughter, Joan Deluca of Lincoln Park; his sister, Theresa Lyons of NC; two nephews, Bill and Matthew Lyons; many cousins and dear friends.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend a visitation to celebrate Harry’s life on Thursday, May 2, 2019 from 4-8PM at the Madison Memorial Home, 159 Main Street, Madison. All may gather at the funeral home at 9:00AM on Friday, May 3, 2019 prior to a 10:00AM Liturgy of Christian Burial celebrated at St. Vincent Martyr RC Church, Madison. Cremation will be held privately.

In lieu of flowers, charitable contributions may be made in Harry’s memory to American Diabetes Association, P.O. Box 15829, Arlington, VA  22215.
