Obituary of Helen R. Joseph

Helen R. Joseph (nee Manning), of Manahawkin, died peacefully on Thursday, February 21, 2019 surrounded by the love of her family. She was 79.

Helen was born in Newark on November 15, 1939 to the late Edward and Anna Manning. She was raised in a large, loving family of 16 children. Helen was a graduate of Asbury Park High School and had a long career as a claim processor at the General Accident Insurance Co. of Florham Park, prior to her retirement.

Helen was a longtime resident of Ledgewood, prior to living in Florham Park and Manahawkin. She lived a giving, faith-filled life and was a parishioner of St. Therese RC Church in Succasunna and later, Holy Family Church.

Helen loved taking trips, going on family vacations and cherished the time she spent with her beloved family, especially her grandchildren. Her loving, warm and personable presence will be deeply missed by all that knew and loved her.

Helen was predeceased by 13 brothers and sisters. She is survived by her son, Christopher Joseph of Ledgewood; her daughter, Carrie Adragna and husband, Joe of Manahawkin; two sisters, Patricia Webb & Gail Cook; two cherished grandchildren, Theresa & Michael Adragna; and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will begin at 9:00AM on Tuesday, February 26, 2018 at the Madison Memorial Home, 159 Main Street, Madison, followed by a 10:00AM Liturgy of Christian Burial celebrated at Holy Family RC Church, Florham Park. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Hanover. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation to celebrate Helen’s life on Monday from 4:00PM to 8:00PM at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that charitable contributions be made in Helen’s memory to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105
