Wow! This blew my mind when I read this today. Jim and Chris are part of the Early Street Community Garden in Morristown- of which I am a member. I looked forward to my conversations with the two of you - full of advice and funny anecdotes! I am so sorry I am just becoming aware of Jim’s passing on. I would have liked to have supported you during this time. My heart goes out to you. Please let me know how to reach out to you. Such a great couple!

Dear Chris,
I am so sorry to hear of Jim’s passing. We met at your brother Dave’s viewing and funeral. I worked with Dave for several years and it so very nice meeting you and Jim. Actually my coworker Jerry and I were taking last week fondly about you both and wishing you well. I will be praying for strength and comfort for you during this difficult time. Look for Jim in the beauty of nature he will always be around. He may be gone from your sight but never from your heart. God bless.

Dear Chris,
I’m so sorry for your loss. Jim was such a lovely person. His kindness made a strong impression on me from the first time I met him in the 90s. I am lucky to have partaken of Jim’s delicious cooking and seen his beautiful garden. I wish I had heard him sing. It’s wonderful to know that he had the gift of music. Truly Jim was an artist of life!
Much love from you cousin, Sarah

Dear Cousin Chris, My heart aches after hearing this difficult news. I wish I could have been there for your Celebration of Jim's life, but trust you will share many of those memories when you visit, if able, in the spring. I regret that I didn't have more time to get to know Jim better, especially since we both share a love of music and song. I hope you receive support from friends and family that you will surely need. God's peace be with you and know my dad, Dale, and I are thinking of you. Love, Johanna

Oh my, say it isn't so. Dear Jim was a wonderful guy and knew how to keep me on my toes and to keep me laughing. We were friends a few years back and haven't been in touch except via facebook for a while. My prayers are with you Jim and with you too Chris.

I met Jimmy in 1970 at Livingston College, Rutgers University in Piscataway. He lived on the floor above in our radically coed dorms. He had a ready smile and pithy comment on every subject. We were pals and haunted the local avant garde independant movie houses and black box theaters in New Brunswick and just hung out listening to music the way things were back then. I dropped out after 2 years but I remember going with some of my friends to see him perform in Jesus Christ Super Star. What a beautiful voice!. We reconnected on Facebook a few years ago when I saw a comment he made on another friends post. I finaly queried him, are you my Jimmy Casola? and he was. I loved reconnecting and sharing stories, posts, humorous, political and seriously vegan on JImmy's part. I loved him and am really going to miss him and really though I hate food pics, his were the best! Your smile, your laugh and twinkly eyes will be with me always. luv, Di

Dear cousin, Chris,
I was so shocked to get your message this morning telling me that Jim had died. All day, I've been thinking about how devastating a loss this is for you. You and Jim were a perfect match. The really odd thing for me is that I was thinking about writing to him on Tuesday morning with a cooking question. It was odd because I always counted on you to share with him whatever I wrote to you and had never written directly to him. Hm-m-m. Maybe I did once to get that muffin recipe after Elaine died.
I know that you will have a lot to do and that grieving is gonna be very tough. I hope that, eventually, you will come to visit me and Sarah and Lucy and Jon in Washington.
I am so sorry that I will not be able to be there with you tomorrow because I am working on a carving job and have a deadline to meet.

Jim was a gentle and thoughtful man with many varied interests and talents who constantly sought to grow artistically, intellectually and spiritually. He was also wise beyond his years and offered sound advice whenever needed. A man who savored life and was taken much too soon. I shall miss his humor and warm smile most of all.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the entire family at this sad time. As the days continue to pass, I hope you can find peace and healing during this difficult time. Knowing that our loved one will be in our memories and hearts forever. May the words of 2 Corinthians 1:3,4 “ Praised be the God... of all comfort, who comforts us in all our trials” bring the entire family comfort and strength. Please accept my sincere condolences.

My sincere condolences to his husband, his family and his friends. I will miss his beautiful Facebook posts and just knowing that people like him are in the world...RIP Jim...

Dear Chris,
We are sending our deepest condolences on your loss of Jim. We are so sorry that you have lost your husband, best friend and love of your life. Even though we live far apart and have only been together with Jim several times over the years we feel like we have known him all our lives through all the lovely letters you have sent us over the years with updates on how you were both doing. You always highlighted Jim's talents of gardening, home improvements and cooking. We will always remembered the delicious cookies he brought to the reunions. He was such a gentle and easy going man and so pleasant to talk with. I know he will be deeply missed. Sending our all our love to you dear cousin at this difficult time.
