Obituary of Jennie M. Del Duca

Jennie Marie Del Duca, a lifelong Madison resident, passed away peacefully at her home on Sunday, December 16, 2018 with her loving family by her side. She was 95.

Jennie was born in Madison on May 3, 1923 to the late Pietro and Carmela Sena. She was raised in Madison and had many fond memories of growing up around her father’s greenhouses where the family grew roses that Madison was famous for.

Jennie was married to her husband, the late Archangelo “Art” Del Duca for 58 years prior to his passing in 2001. Jennie began her career as a seamstress at a very young age and it was evident that she had a natural talent for the art. She gained a vast amount of experience and would eventually become a master seamstress. She and her husband, Art, were the owners of a business that provided the design and fabrication of some of the most intricate, high-end window treatments to interior decorators and private clients in the Madison area. Her custom designed creations were highly sought after and Jennie built a trusted reputation with many prominent families in the area for being the standard for fine window treatments. She was very proud of the fact that she had the opportunity to meet Jacqueline Kennedy through one of her clients.

Jennie worked tirelessly to provide a good life for her family. She and Art raised their family in Madison and were very active parishioners of St. Vincent Martyr Church. She was a dedicated member of the Rosary Society for many years, as well as the Mother’s Guild at St. Vincent’s. Jennie was also a member of the auxiliary of the Madison Ambulance Corps for many years.

Jennie loved music and attending concerts well into her 90’s. She was proud that she was recently able to meet Tim McGraw during a recent concert. She was a fan of Faith Hill and loved to recall when she met Perry Como many years ago.  Jennie enjoyed trips to Atlantic City and even up until recently, she loved playing Keno.

Jennie leaves behind three loving daughters, Josephine DeBiasse and her husband, Ron of Madison, Ann Healy and her husband, Joseph “Jay” of Madison & Maria Sweetin and her husband, George of Chatham; one brother, Peter Sena of Florham Park; one sister, Connie Galasso of Ramsey; 5 cherished grandchildren, Ron DeBiasse, Jr. (Katherine), Joseph Healy (Laura), Suzanne DiTacconi (John), George Henry Sweetin & Gregory Harris Sweetin; 5 beloved great-grandchildren, Pietro DeBiasse, Evelina DeBiasse, Vincenzo DiTacconi, Angelina Healy & Joseph Healy III; and many nieces & nephews.

Funeral services will begin at 9:00AM on Wednesday, December 19, 2018 at the Madison Memorial Home, 159 Main Street, Madison, followed by a 10:00AM Liturgy of Christian Burial celebrated at St. Vincent Martyr Church, Madison. Interment will be held at St. Vincent’s Cemetery, Madison. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend a visitation to celebrate Jennie’s life on Tuesday from 4:00PM to 8:00PM at the funeral home.
