Obituary of Ralph A. Sandello

Ralph A. Sandello “Dukie”, a lifelong Madison resident, passed away peacefully surrounded by his cherished family on Thursday, July 5, 2018 at home. He was 85.

Ralph was born in Summit on December 11, 1932 to the late Ralph and Rose Sandello. He served honorably in the US Navy during the Korean War. Ralph and his father established Sandello’s Plumbing & Heating of Madison in 1957. The father and son team were very talented plumbers and would work together for many years. Prior to retiring, Ralph was very proud that the family business would be continued by son, Joseph.

He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed playing sports, even into his older years. He was an avid fan of NY Giants football, the Mets & Rangers. He sponsored several softball teams in Madison throughout the years through Sandello’s Plumbing. Ralph also had a love of antique cars.

Ralph was predeceased by his granddaughter, Kimberly Berntsen. He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Camille Sandello (nee Filippone); three sons, Ralph Sandello (Terry), Joseph Sandello (Michele) & Steven Sandello; three daughters, Cheryl Berntsen (Carl), Rosemary Sandello (Tom Fetter) & Kathleen Sandello; one sister, Loretta Strelec (Joseph); six grandchildren, Heather, Samantha, Ralph, Matthew, Brittany & Michael; one great-grandchild, Avery; many nieces, nephews & good friends. Funeral services will begin at 9:00AM on Monday, July 9, 2018 at the Madison Memorial Home, 159 Main Street, Madison, followed by a 10:00AM Liturgy of Christian Burial celebrated at Vincent Martyr RC Church, Madison. Interment with military honors will follow at St. Vincent’s Cemetery, Madison.  Relatives and friends are kindly invited to gather to celebrate Ralph’s life at a visitation from 3:00PM to 7:00PM on Sunday at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, charitable contributions can be made in Ralph’s memory to Atlantic Hospice, 465 South Street, #100B, Morristown, NJ 07960
