Obituary of Pasquale "Pat" Palma, Jr.

Pasquale “Pat” Palma, Jr., a life-long Madison resident, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 26, 2018 with his family by his side. He was 85.

Pat was born in Madison on April 10, 1933 to the late Pasquale and Francesca Palma. He was a graduate of Madison H.S. where he was a highly skilled player on the football team. He was also the NJ Jr. State Golfing Champion. Pat married his sweetheart and best friend, Marion Palma (nee Jones) and shortly after, enlisted in the US Air Force, where he honorably served in the Korean War for four years. Pat had a long career in construction with Local #54 of Plainfield before retiring. He was a man of great faith and good nature, always bringing out the best in people with his sense of humor. He was an usher at St. Vincent Martyr Church for 15 years. In his younger years he enjoyed hunting with his brother, Vincent. He will be deeply missed by all that knew him.  

Pat was predeceased by his beloved wife, Marion Palma in 2004; three brothers, Anthony, Frank & Michael; and one sister, Frances Taylor. He leaves behind his son, Pasquale Frederick Palma, III and his wife, Denise of East Hanover; his daughter, Susan Palma Sodano of Madison; his son-in-law, Joe Sodano, Jr.; his brother, Vincent Frederick Palma of Madison; a close family friend, Karen A. Bethel of Madison; four grandchildren, Daniel Pasquale Palma, Samantha Marion Sodano, Nicholas & Rebecca; his son, Michael J. Palma of NY; and daughter, Charlotte Hand and her husband, John of Stanhope; and many good friends.

Funeral services will begin at 9:00AM on Thursday, May 31, 2018 at the Madison Memorial Home, 159 Main Street, Madison, followed by a 10:00AM Liturgy of Christian Burial celebrated at St. Vincent Martyr RC Church, Madison. Interment with military honors will follow at St. Vincent’s Cemetery, Madison.  Relatives and friends are kindly invited to gather to celebrate Pat’s life at a visitation from 2-4PM & 7-9PM on Wednesday at the funeral home.
