Obituary of James "Jimmy" E. Johnson
James "Jimmy" E. Johnson, of Bowie, MD, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 13, 2018 at UM Laurel Regional Hospital. He was 69.
Jimmy leaves behind his beloved wife, Karen "Peaches" Johnson; one son, Jason Johnson and his wife Leia; one daughter, Jamie Johnson; one brother, Charles C. Johnson, Jr. and his wife Elaine; three sisters, Phyllis C. Johnson, Linda E. Johnson & Wendy-Jo Johnson; two aunts, Thelma Sullivan & Genevieve Depew; six cherished grandchildren, Kennidy, Makynlee, Karter, Jason, Ronald James & Michelle; one nephew, Michael Cole; one niece, Desta Johnson; and many good friends.
Jimmy was born in Summit on April 2, 1948 to the late Charles C. Johnson, Sr. and Clementine Johnson (nee Ellis). He was a lifelong Madison resident before moving to Bowie, MD over ten years ago. Before retiring, Jimmy was a talented electrician with the IBEW Local #102 for many years. He was a member of the Bethel AME Church of Madison. While in Madison High School, he was a very talented athlete, excelling in baseball and football. Later in life, Jimmy enjoyed traveling abroad, especially to Africa and Dubai. He valued experiencing other cultures. Jimmy was remembered most for being good hearted and a role model to many. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Relatives and friends may gather at 10AM on Saturday, February 17, 2018 at the Madison Memorial Home, 159 Main Street, Madison for an hour of visitation prior to a funeral service beginning at 11AM at the funeral home. Cremation will be held privately at the request of his family. A visitation to celebrate Jimmy's life will be held on Friday from 7PM to 9PM at the funeral home.
