Obituary of Carmela Esposito
Carmela Esposito (nee Devastato), a long-time Madison resident, passed away peacefully on Friday, December 29, 2017 at Morristown Medical Center with her family by her side. She was 90.
Carmela is survived by one son, Frank Esposito and his wife, Angela of Florham Park, and one daughter, Stella Bassolino and her husband, Antonio of Madison. She was also blessed with four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Carmela was predeceased by her beloved husband, Pasqualino Esposito.
Carmela was born in Marigliano, Italy to the late Sebastiano & Carmela Devastato. She and her family moved to Madison in 1962, where she has lived since. Carmela had a long career at the College of St. Elizabeth in Convent Station as a custodian, before retiring many years ago. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who worked tirelessly to provide for her family. Carmela especially cherished her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She had a good heart and will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Funeral services will begin at 9:00AM on Wednesday, January 3, 2018 at the Madison Memorial Home, 159 Main Street, Madison, followed by a 10:00AM Liturgy of Christian Burial celebrated at St. Vincent Martyr RC Church, Madison. Entombment will follow at Gate of Heaven Mausoleum, East Hanover. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation to celebrate Carmela's life on Tuesday from 4:00PM to 8:00PM at the funeral home.
