Obituary of Cero "Jerry" Palombo
Cero “Jerry” Palombo, a long-time Florham Park resident, passed away peacefully on Monday, September 4, 2017 at Morristown Medical Center. He was 84.
Born and raised in Newark, Jerry lived in Irvington before settling in Florham Park with his family 50 years ago. He was a US Army veteran of the Korean War and in his younger years, Jerry enjoyed theater acting and held lead roles in several local productions.
Jerry earned his Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Seton Hall University in South Orange. He had a successful career in sales within the chemical industry which spanned many years, before retiring several years ago. Jerry had a strong work ethic and took a great deal of pride in his home. Spending time with his family and friends was another great pleasure. He was a devoted father to his three sons and coaching them in little league baseball were some of his most cherished moments.
Jerry leaves behind his beloved wife of 55 years, Jeanette Palombo (nee Keifer); three sons, Tom Palombo, Greg Palombo (Jen), and Jim Palombo (Kerry); two brothers, Frank Palombo (Dorothy) and Joe Palombo; one sister, Mary Festa; and many nieces and nephews. He was also blessed with three grandchildren, Brigette, Peter, and Matthew.
Funeral services will begin at 9:00AM on Thursday, September 7, 2017 at the Madison Memorial Home, 159 Main Street, Madison, followed by a 10:00AM Liturgy of Christian Burial held at Holy Family RC Church, Florham Park. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Hanover. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation to celebrate Jerry’s life held on Wednesday from 4:00PM to 8:00PM at the funeral home.
