Obituary of Claire Jean Dale

Claire J. Dale, a long-time Chatham resident, passed away peacefully at her home on Monday, August 28, 2017 at the age of 87. She was a woman of strong faith and she always found a way to recognize the good, and always remind us of the beauty of life itself.

Claire was born and raised in Paterson. She moved to Chatham soon after her marriage to her beloved husband, the late William R. Dale. The couple were wed in May of 1951, a marriage that would span 58 incredible years.  When she was not caring for her family, Claire had a career as a dietician, and later with Bank of America of Chatham. In her retirement, Claire was an active volunteer with the Overlook Hospital Auxillary for many years, offering help in any way she could. She also enjoyed volunteering at the Madison Thrift Shop.

She loved flowers and spending time working in her garden. Claire was also an animal lover, she especially loved her dog.

Claire leaves behind her two sons, Keith Dale of Milford (Patricia) and Kirk Dale of Nelson, NH; one daughter, Kris Dale of Chatham, and her partner, Steve Fleisch. She was blessed with five grandchildren, Ryan, Tim, Matt, Heidi, Laura; and two-great grandchildren, Ben and Luke.

A Memorial Service will be held for Claire at 11:00AM on Saturday, October 14, 2017 at the Chatham United Methodist Church, located at 460 Main Street in Chatham. Arrangements are under the direction of the Madison Memorial Home.

Memorial donations can be made in Claire’s memory to the Chatham United Methodist Church, 460 Main St, Chatham, NJ 07928 or to the Chatham Emergency Squad, 31 N Passaic Ave, Chatham, NJ 07928
