Obituary of Gary G. Wolff
Gary G. Wolff, a long-time Union resident, passed away peacefully on Monday, June 5, 2017 at Overlook Hospital in Summit, after a long illness. He was 62 years old.
Gary was born in Newark on November 4, 1954. He grew up in Irvington before moving to Union 26 years ago. He was a parishioner of St. Michael’s RC Church in Union.
Gary earned his Bachelor of Economics degree from Rutgers University. Earlier in his life, Gary worked in the insurance industry and he was employed by Chubb Insurance for number of years. He had a love for carpentry and eventually Gary became a self-employed carpenter. He was the proud owner of Gary’s Fences located in Union. He retired in 2010.
Gary will be fondly remembered for his tremendous sense of humor and positive outlook on life. He loved music, especially playing the guitar and teaching his son, Michael, how to play. He enjoyed cooking for his family and he was a baseball enthusiast. Gary especially loved the NY Yankees.
Gary was preceded in death by his father, the late Howard Wolff. He leaves behind his beloved wife of 32 years, Marion Wolff (nee Alterski) of Union; his mother, Anne Wolff (nee Kelleher) of Brick; his sons, Michael Wolff of Union and Patrick Kehrle of Cranford, and his wife, Megan; his daughter, Melody Wolff of Union; his sister Joanne Buro of Kentucky; three cherished grandchildren, Zach, Josh, and Leah; and many good friends.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a memorial visitation on Thursday, June 8, 2017 from 5:00PM to 7:00PM at the Madison Memorial Home, 159 Main Street, Madison, with a funeral service being held at 6:00PM.
