Diana and Joe Roberts were wonderful people, long time friends of my father, George Thawley, and my mother, Agnes Thawley. My dad, now deceased, worked with both of them at Vernon L. Davies Jr. High. My dad also attended Boston U. They remained friends for many years, stopping by to visit, and attending the weddings of myself and my siblings. They could brighten any room. Their get togethers were always filled with laughter. I only recently heard about their deaths. May they rest in peace.

Mrs. Roberts was such a wonderful teacher. I remember how she would read to us from her journal in English class, fondly remembering her father crying while watching his first 4th of July parade. She gave me Gatsby and The Scarlet Letter and made me memorize stanzas of the French epic, Roland. She was certainly one of the reasons that I became an English teacher. Her passion for her subject was contagious. She was a gift. My sincerest condolences.

Mrs. Roberts was one of my favorite high school teachers. I still remember her class very fondly -- and I graduated in 1982. She was one of those teachers who made classes interesting. She knew how to reach her students and she made me love to write. My thoughts go out to her family.

Diana had such a joie de vivre. She radiated enthusiasm and excitement with a thirst for learning and communicating her observations. An excellent teacher and story teller, Diana was also an avid student. When she spoke to you, she made you feel there was no one else around. She joins her husband, the love of her life. We are all poorer for her absence. My deepest sympathy to her beloved family.

So sorry for your loss, Steve and family. Diana was the epitome of grace and kindness. She touched so many lives and will never be forgotten by those who knew her. Glad she is reunited with her beloved Joe. I am going to get out my lovely "estate sale" crystal and drink a toast to her memory.
