Obituary of Hannelore H. Guerino

Hannelore H. Guerino (née Berger), age 83, of New Providence, passed away peacefully on December 24, 2024.

Hannelore is survived by her two devoted children, Aldo Guerino and Suzanne Carreno-Powers (Robert); ten beloved grandchildren: Gloria, Jason, Audrey, Jonathan, Emma, Sarah, Isabella, Adam, Gianni, and Jayden; five cherished great-grandchildren; her brother Heinz Berger; her sister Charlotte Müller; and many nieces, nephews, and dear friends. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 48 years, Aldo Guerino, and her brother, Franz Berger.

Born on September 24, 1941, in Oberhof, Germany, to the late Franz and Amalie Berger (née Reichelt), Hannelore’s journey brought her to the United States at the age of 12. Her family settled in Manhattan, where she embraced her new life. It was there she met her future husband, Aldo, while they both worked at Finest Engravers. They married in 1969, beginning a love story that lasted nearly five decades.

In 1976, Hannelore and Aldo moved their growing family from Queens, New York, to Closter, New Jersey, creating a warm and welcoming home. A dedicated stay-at-home mother, Hannelore eventually re-entered the workforce as a bookkeeper at Crestron Electronics in Cresskill, NJ. The family also built a cherished vacation home in the Catskills, where countless memories were made. After retiring, Hannelore and Aldo enjoyed their golden years in Manahawkin, NJ.

Hannelore was known for her unwavering love and care for her family. She found joy in cooking, gardening, and tending to her beautiful flower and vegetable gardens. She was never one to sit idle, always keeping busy to ensure her family was cared for. Her love extended beyond her immediate family taking care of everyone who entered her home, also keeping close ties with her family in Germany.

Her strength, warmth, and selflessness will forever remain in the hearts of her family. Though deeply missed, they find comfort in knowing she is at peace and reunited with Aldo.

Services for Hannelore were held privately. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in her memory to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.

Hannelore’s legacy of love and care will continue to inspire all who knew her.
