Obituary of Terence Hopkins
Remembering Terry Hopkins
Terence "Terry" Hopkins, 62, passed away peacefully after a long illness on Tuesday, September 17, 2024. He was a beloved individual who touched the lives of many. His infectious laugh and warm personality endeared him to everyone who knew him. Terry lived most of his life in Maplewood prior to moving to Chatham Twp., and spent the last few years of his life in Whiting and Jackson, NJ.
Terry enjoyed spending time with friends at Marco Polo and participating in Trivia at Charlie Brown’s. These social gatherings were moments of joy and camaraderie. His love for the beach in Beach Haven West, LBI, listening to Bruce Springsteen, concerts in local parks with family, and trips to Atlantic City added excitement to his life. He also played as an extra in the movie “Turk 182,” an action comedy-drama, back in 1985.
Terry served as the Water Pollution Control Foreman for Chatham Twp. for 30 years prior to his retirement in 2017. His dedication to his work left an impact on his fellow co-workers and the community.
Terry’s heart was especially drawn to animals. His beloved Labrador “Rebel” was a faithful companion. He also worked part-time for many years for St. Hubert’s Geralda, contributing to the welfare of animals.
Terry’s family was an essential part of his life. He was predeceased by his father, Raymond Hopkins, his mother, Antoinette (Toni) Hopkins and a brother Marc Hopkins. He is survived by his sister, Angela Zacharias, and brothers: Raymond, Tom (Joan), and Tony, along with nieces and nephews, as well as his loving cousin Donna Mattina and her family.
Terry Hopkins’ legacy lives on through the memories shared by those who knew him. His laughter, love, and kindness continue to resonate, reminding us of the precious connections we make in life.
