Fran was one of the most intelligent and interesting women I’ve known. She was admired by so many of us at the University of Pennsylvania. A few of us who all began our careers at Penn around the same time, would enjoy going out to dinner, typically at a restaurant Fran recommended as she knew of the best ones in the city. But first, we would stop by her beautiful apartment on Rittenhouse Square for cocktails. She definitely will be remembered.

Dear Jessica, Our deepest sympathies to you and your family. We first met Fran when she was working at Mathematica in the 1980s. After everyone went on to other careers, we lost touch, but reconnected when we moved to Philadelphia in 2013. She was our personal guide to the city, sharing her favorite restaurants, cooking tips, and best theater experiences. She was a good friend when we knew on one else in the city and we will miss her.
