Obituary of Erminia A. Rossi

Erminia A. Rossi (née Forte), a lifelong Madison resident, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 28, 2023 after a short illness. She was 72.

She leaves behind her cherished son, Matthew Rossi and his wife Katherine; her treasured granddaughter, Kaitlyn; her loving sister, Dolores Gilliland; two nephews, Michael and Tommy; two great-nephews, Tommy and Ricardo; two great-nieces, Giuliana and Darla; her beloved puggle, Mickey; and many dear friends.

Erminia was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 45 years, Charles Rossi in 2015.

Erminia was born in Summit on July 17, 1951. Affectionately known as “Ermie,” she grew up in Madison and attended the Madison schools.

Erminia met her husband Charlie when the couple was set up on a blind date by Erminia’s cousin. The couple married on October 10, 1970 and later welcomed their son Matthew, who always made Erminia very proud.

Erminia worked as an administrative assistant for Equip Solutions in Whippany, but her main passion was caring for her family. She adored doting on her son, grandchild, nieces, and nephews, baking for them and cooking Italian dishes. Holidays were always filled with food, family and laughter.

Erminia also enjoyed quilting, traveling, going on cruises with her family, and occasionally treating herself to a little gambling. She liked beautiful things such as the water, lighthouses and sunsets, as well as the lovely memories they created for her and her family. Erminia was a proud survivor of breast cancer, and her family continues to wear pink throughout the month of October in her honor.

Erminia’s bright smile and her warm and caring nature will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend the visitation for Erminia on Friday, December 1, 2023 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with a 6:30 p.m. funeral service held at the Madison Memorial Home, 159 Main Street, Madison.

Interment will be held privately for Erminia’s family.

In lieu of flowers, charitable contributions may be made in Erminia’s name to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, 13770 Noel Road, Suite 801889, Dallas, TX 75380.
