Obituary of Nancy R. Esposito

Nancy Rose Esposito, a lifelong Madison resident, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, October 29, 2023 with her family by her side. She was 92.

Nancy is survived by her one son, Patrick Esposito; two daughters, Carol Ann Esposito & Nancy Jean Esposito & one sister, Rae Sladen; seven grandchildren, Jessica Esposito (Melissa), Carly Heller (Doug), Jenny Esposito, Patrick Esposito, Kristen Esposito, Kaitlin Corbett (Rick) & Samantha Larkin (John); eight great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews extended family members and dear friends.

She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Joseph “Brownie” Esposito in 1997, one son, Joseph Esposito in 2019; three brothers, Joseph Mantone, Louis Mantone, Sr. & Samuel “Jiggs” Mantone; and one sister, Anna McLaughlin.

Nancy was born in Morristown on May 21, 1931, to the late Samuel and Emilia Mantone. She was raised in Madison with her five siblings and was a graduate of Madison High School where she was captain of her basketball team.

Nancy married Joseph “Brownie” Esposito and they settled on Alma Avenue where they raised their family. Nancy was a wonderful mother and dedicated her life to her family and those she loved. She was extremely proud of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and loved attending their sporting events as their biggest fan.

Nancy had a strong will and always stood up for what was right. She was a steadfast friend who was very loving and giving, never expecting a thing in return. Nancy was also a longtime member of the Red Hats of Madison.

Before retiring, Nancy worked at the Mendham Apothecary. She was a friendly and familiar face there for many years where she made many friends.

Nancy was deeply faithful and was a lifelong parishioner of St. Vincent Martyr Church, where she was a member of the Rosary Society. She frequently prayed to St. Anthony, her favorite Saint. Nancy was also a volunteer with the Madison Volunteer Ambulance Corps and she was dedicated to helping others in need.

Nancy was a sports enthusiast and loved the Yankees and was an avid tennis fan. She enjoyed spending her summers at her house at Lake Hopatcong where she hosted many barbeques inviting family, friends, and neighbors. She also never turned down a good game of bingo or a trip to the casino.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend the visitation for Nancy on Thursday, November 2, 2023 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Madison Memorial Home, 159 Main Street, Madison.

Funeral services will begin at the funeral home at 9:00 a.m. on Friday, November 3, 2023 followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. at St. Vincent Martyr Church, 26 Green Village Road, Madison. Those who wish may attend the mass virtually by visiting www.svmnj.org

Interment will follow at St. Vincent’s Cemetery, Madison.
