Obituary of Vimla S. Patel
Vimla S. Patel, of Piscataway, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 4, 2023, at Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia. She was 71.
Vimla was born in Pisai, Gujarat, India on June 1, 1952, to the late Bahecharbhai N. and Girjaben B. Patel. She was raised in a loving family with her six siblings. Vimla emigrated to the United States in 1981, settling in New Jersey.
Vimla married her beloved husband Subhash H. Patel on May 26, 1971, and soon after the couple welcomed four beautiful daughters into their family. Vimla was described as the universal mom to everyone. The true matriarch, Vimla had a gift for making everyone feel special and at home. She had boundless amounts of energy and put others before herself, never saying “no” to helping in time of need. She was regarded as the beacon of strength to her family and had a truly colorful life.
Vimla was an excellent cook, and everyone loved her traditional Indian dishes. She had a good sense of humor and a great smile, and she never passed up an opportunity to dance and have fun. Her vibrant spirit and comforting soul will be deeply missed by all.
In addition to her parents, Vimla was preceded in death by her brother, Pravinbhai Patel.
Vimla is survived by her beloved husband of 52 years, Subhash H. Patel; four devoted daughters, Hina Patel (Suresh Patel), Nimisha Patel, Priti Patel (Pratik Panchal), and Chandni Patel (Tom Abraham); three brothers and two sisters; four cherished grandchildren, Harshil, Kian, Bodhi, and Ayla; and many nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation for Vimla on Saturday, October 7, 2023, from 9:00 AM to 11:30 AM with a traditional Hindu funeral service beginning at 9:00 AM at the Madison Memorial Home, 159 Main Street, Madison. A private cremation will follow for her family.
