Obituary of Jean Baird

Jean Monroe Baird died peacefully at her present residence at Heath Village in Hackettstown, NJ.

She and her husband, George, were longtime residents of Chatham, NJ where they raised their two daughters, Heidi and Wendy.

Jean was born in Richmond, VA on July 9, 1929, and her family moved frequently before settling in the Philadelphia area. She attended Moore College of Art and later completed her teaching degree. She taught at Brooklake and Briarwood schools in Florham Park, NJ, where she shared her love of learning, art, and books with many children.

She is survived by her daughters and spouses, Heidi and Joe McGrath of Gloucester, MA, and Wendy and Dean Couphos of Chatham, NJ. She truly enjoyed being ‘Amby’ to her grandchildren and their spouses/partners, Kendra and Brendin Winn, Caitlin McGrath and Reggie Pierre, Alexa and Ryan Hayes, and Eric and Kelsey Couphos. She was thrilled to have eight great grandkids with one more on the way.

Jean felt lucky that George had the travel bug which took them on many trips that were well documented through her photography. She continued taking sunset photos up to a week before her passing.

She will be missed by her family who will gather to celebrate her life later this summer.

We will always remember her every time we enjoy our art projects, read one of her favorite childrens' books, or catch a beautiful sunset!
