Obituary of Renee Godlewski

Renee Godlewski, of Pennsauken, passed away peacefully on May 4th, 2023 surrounded by her children. She was 74.

Renee “Nay” was born in Kearny on October 5, 1948 to the late Edgar and Margaret Gilbert. She was raised in Irvington where she attended Bishop Walsh Catholic High School.  Renee was a long-time resident of Madison and Tuckerton before moving to Pennsauken three years ago.  She lived a faith-filled life and was a member of St. Vincent Martyr Church in Madison for many years and most recently St. Stephens Church in Pennsauken.

Renee was quick-witted, gentle and kind.  She loved the ocean, seashells, flowers and all things sparkly.  Her favorite things to do were visiting with friends and family, reading, watching Jeopardy, cooking, collecting family photos and making scrap books.  Renee enjoyed so much hearing the church bells ringing outside her home throughout the day. She also took pleasure intravel and had visited Canada, Italy, France and the Netherlands as well as many states in the U.S.

Renee was predeceased by parents and her treasured brother, Daniel Gilbert, as well as her former husband and high school sweetheart, Stanley J. Godlewski, Jr.

Family was the most important part of her life and she cherished every moment with each of her loved ones. She is survived by her daughters, Pamela Godlewski, Sharon Muse and her husband David, and her son, David Godlewski and his wife Lisa, as well as her nine grandchildren, Richard, Michael, Allison, Catherine, Makayla, Colin, Julian, Quincy and Beatrice and one great-grandchild, Omari.  She is also survived by her five sisters, Lynn, Suzanne and her husband Bill, Theresa and her husband Walter, Louise and Annette and her husband Steve, as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins whom she all adored. Renee also had a very special place in her heart for Dianne, David, Spencer, and Harrison Katz.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend the visitation on Thursday, May 11, 2023 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Madison Memorial Home, 159 Main Street, Madison, NJ.

Funeral services will begin at the funeral home at 9:00 a.m. on Friday, May 12, 2023 prior to a 10:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at St. Vincent Martyr RC Church, 26 Green Village Road, Madison, NJ. Those who wish to attend the mass virtually may do so by visiting www.svmnj.org

Interment will follow at St. Vincent's Cemetery, Madison.

Charitable contributions can be made in Renee’s memory to St. Stephen’s Roman Catholic Parish 6306 Browning Rd, Pennsauken Township, NJ 08109
