Obituary of Emma Lepore

Emma Lepore (née Pisano), a longtime Madison resident, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 21, 2023 at Morristown Medical Center, just one day after her 91st birthday.

Emma was a beloved mother, grandmother, aunt and friend to many.

Emma is survived by her two daughters, Angelina Staneart and Giovanna “Joanne” Lepore; her son, Giovanni “Mike” Lepore; five cherished grandchildren,  JulieAnn, Joanne (Scott), Michael, Michela and Valentina; and five great-grandchildren, Joshua, Emilee, Giovanni, Mia & Gianna.

She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Arcangelo “Mike” Lepore and her daughter-in-law, Madeline “Maddie” Lepore.

Emma was born in Monte Fusco, Italy to the late Fiore and Felicia Pisano. She married her beloved husband Mike and emigrated to the United States in 1962 with their young family. They settled in Madison where other extended family from Italy were located.

Emma’s family was everything to her and she was very proud of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Emma was a wonderful cook and she loved preparing elaborate Italian meals during the holidays when the entire family would gather at her home. She spent her entire life taking care of others and putting other people before herself.

Emma had a career spanning several decades with the Madison Board of Education as the head cook at Madison High School. She took great pride in her work, retiring in 1999.

Emma enjoyed crocheting and knitting gifts for her family and friends. She also loved gardening, a passion which she and her husband Mike shared for many years.

Emma will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Her kindness, warmth and generosity will never be forgotten. She leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion to her family that will continue to inspire us all.
