Obituary of Valerie S. Chauvette

Valerie Suzanne Chauvette (née Radon), a longtime Florham Park resident, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by the love of her family on Sunday, March 12, 2023. She was 89.

Valerie was born in Newark on August 26, 1933 to the late Francis Stanley and Jean Radon (née Martin). She was raised in the Newark-Irvington area and graduated from Our Lady of the Valley High School in Orange.

Valerie worked at Beneficial Management Corporation in Morristown, where she met her husband, Joseph E. Chauvette. The couple married on October 23, 1954 and settled in Florham Park in 1964 to raise their family. A caretaker at heart, Valerie stopped working after the birth of her children to become a full-time mother. Her family was her greatest treasure and she compassionately cared, not only for her children, but for her parents and grandchildren.

Valerie was very devout in her faith and enjoyed volunteering, especially at Holy Family Church in Florham Park, where she served as a Eucharistic Minister and as an active member of the parish’s Rosary Society, participating in their annual craft fairs. She was an avid bowler and acted as treasurer for the Bowling League of Morris County. Valerie enjoyed vacationing with her family and friends to Cape Cod, adored shopping afternoons with her sister Monica, and took pride in her gardening and crocheting.

She is survived by her devoted children Linda Guerin and her husband Joseph; Gregory Chauvette and his wife Donna; Thomas Chauvette and his wife Carol; Suzanne Charatan and her husband Jeff; Tricia Pearl and her husband Bruce; 14 cherished grandchildren; Josh Pearl;  Suzanne Herold and her husband Dallas; Michelle Thomas and her husband Christian; Caitlin Faccone and her husband Adam; Sara Fandel and her husband Ryan; Joseph Guerin; Alex Chauvette and his wife Alexis; Andrew Chauvette and his wife Maddie; Nick Pearl; Mark Chauvette and his wife Bethany; Brian Charatan; Melissa Pearl; Tim Charatan; her 8 treasured great-grandchildren; Finn, Jackson, AJ, Cameron, Eliza, Lucas, Austin, and Brayden; and many nieces, nephews, and dear friends, including Ann Chauvette and Patricia Mess. Her family will miss her nurturing spirit, but take immense comfort knowing that she is with the Lord.

Valerie was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband of 46 years, Joseph E. Chauvette; her sister Monica Rodgers; her brother-in-law Paul Chauvette; and her grandson Danny Chauvette.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to a memorial visitation on Tuesday, March 21, 2023 from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Madison Memorial Home, 159 Main Street, Madison, followed by a Memorial Liturgy of Christian Burial at 1:30 p.m. at Holy Family Church, Florham Park. A committal service will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Hanover.

In lieu of flowers, charitable contributions in Valerie’s name may be made to the Florham Park Public Library, 107 Ridgedale Ave, Florham Park, NJ 07932 or Florham Park First Aid Squad, 60 Felch Rd, Florham Park, NJ 07932 or to a meaningful charity of your choice.
