Obituary of Alta Granato
Altagracia Abraham Granato, of Madison (former longtime Livingston resident), passed peacefully surrounded by her beloved family on Tuesday, January 10, 2023 at Morristown Medical Center.
Alta is survived by her husband, Thomas J. Granato, owner of T&J Auto Service, of Madison; one daughter, Elizabeth Cawthorne Perry; one son, Edward A. Abraham; four sisters, Isabel Heredia, Raisa Abraham, Sonia Abraham, & Rosa Maria Abraham, MD; four cherished grandchildren, Kimberly Elizabeth Cawthorne, Ariana Abraham, Michael Abraham & Marc Anthony Abraham; three great-grandchildren, Priscila, Joshua & Giovanni; and many loving cousins, nieces & nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her son, Emilio Abraham, Sr.; her brother, Eduardo Abraham, MD; her grandson, Emilio Abraham, Jr.; and her granddaughter, Cristina Abraham.
Alta was born to the late Abraham and Providencia Castillo.
Alta was a wonderful wife, mother & grandmother. She loved her family tremendously and her life was deeply devoted to all of them.
Alta owned and operated Casa Stoia Restaurant in Newark for over 25 years, something she was very proud of. She worked tirelessly operating the business. Alta loved interacting with the loyal patrons of the restaurant & formed many life-long friendships along the way. Even after she retired from the restaurant business, Alta enjoyed cooking her incredible recipes for family and friends.
Alta will be deeply missed by her family and friends.
A Memorial Mass will be held at 12:30 PM on Saturday, February 4, 2023 at Saint Philomena Church, 386 S Livingston Avenue, Livingston.
