Obituary of Giovanna Carcione

Giovanna Carcione (née Prizzi), a longtime Madison resident, died peacefully with her family by her side on Friday, January 6, 2023 at the age of 82.

Giovanna is survived by her daughter, Sabrina Carcione; her son, Joe Carcione and his wife Kathy, two cherished grandchildren, Joseph & Marisa Carcione; her sister-in-law, Sue Prizzi; and many loving extended family members & dear friends.

She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Filippo Carcionein 1996 and her brother, Enzo Prizzi.

Giovanna was born in Palermo, Italy to the late Ciro and Francesca Prizzi. She and Filippo settled in Madison in 1974 where they raised their family. 

Giovanna was a talented seamstress with a loyal following of clients for many years prior to her retirement. She was a wonderful mother and grandmother, and she loved to cook for the family during the holidays and other special events. 

Giovanna was a faith-filled woman and longtime parishioner of St. Vincent Martyr Church.

Giovanna will be deeply missed by her family and friends, but they take comfort in knowing she is at peace.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation held from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Wednesday, January 11, 2023 at the Madison Memorial Home, 159 Main Street, Madison.

Funeral services will begin at 9:00 AM on Thursday, January 12, 2023 at the funeral home, followed by a 10:00 AM Mass of Christian Burial held at St. Vincent Martyr Church, 26 Green Village Road, Madison.

Interment will follow at St. Vincent’s Cemetery, Madison.
