Obituary of Joseph A. Palazzi

Joseph A. Palazzi, of Madison, NJ (formerly a longtime Florida & Cedar Knolls, NJ resident) died peacefully at Juniper Village on Saturday, February 24, 2024. He was 91.

Joseph is survived by his sister, Carmella Bocchino and her husband Victor of Madison; his nieces and nephews Carmella, Joe, Vicki, Patty, Victoria, Christopher and Beth; and numerous extended family members & dear friends.

He was predeceased by his beloved wife of 60 years, Anna Palazzi (née Grasso); one brother, Frank Palazzi and his wife Bettsy; and one sister, Orsala Allocca and her husband Guy.

Joseph was born and raised in Madison, NJ to the late Thomas and Rose Palazzi. He received his sacraments at St. Vincent Martyr Church and graduated from Madison High School.

Shortly after high school Joseph served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He was stationed in Germany from 1952 to 1954 prior to being honorably discharged.

Upon returning home from the service, Joseph began his formal training in cartography, becoming an extremely talented map maker and draftsman. Joseph had an extensive career with General Drafting, a map making firm located in Convent Station, NJ. He traveled the world and created highly detailed maps of the earth for large companies such as Exxon before his retirement in 1996.

Joseph married his beloved wife Anna Palazzi in 1964 and the couple settled in Cedar Knolls, NJ. They were best friends and inseparable. Joseph and Anna loved to travel and socialize with their many friends. After retiring they relocated to the warmer climate of Florida, living in Homosassa for over 20 years. They both shared their love of flowers and gardening. Joseph and Anna enjoyed growing a multitude of flowers in their garden in Florida.

Sadly, Anna passed away in 2022 and Joseph moved back to New Jersey to be closer to his family.

Although Joseph will be deeply missed by his family and friends, we take solace in knowing he is at peace with the Lord and is once again reunited with his beloved wife Anna.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation for Joseph held on Wednesday, February 28, 2024 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Madison Memorial Home, 159 Main Street, Madison, NJ. A funeral service will be held at 6:00 p.m. during the visiting hours, followed by a military honors ceremony.

Entombment will be held at Fountain Memorial Park in Homosassa, Florida.

In lieu of flowers, charitable contributions may be made in Joseph’s memory to St. Judes Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105
