Obituary of Joseph J. Strelkoff

Joseph J. Strelkoff, a longtime Madison resident, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 4, 2024. He was 87.

Joseph leaves behind his sons, John Strelkoff, Joseph Strelkoff, Jr. and his wife, Tammi, Gregory Strelkoff, and Matthew Strelkoff; his daughter, Stacy Strelkoff, and her husband Jason Wright; his sister, Anne Marie Flynn; seven grandchildren, Charlie, Max, and Sophie Strelkoff, Sebastian, Xavier, and Evangeline Wright and Rocco Strelkoff; and many dear friends and close relatives.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Angela Strelkoff (née Cetta) in 2003; and his brother-in-law, Jack Flynn.

Joseph was born in the Bronx, NY on September 14, 1936, to the late Ivan and Anna Strelkoff (née Milone). A longtime American and world history buff, Joseph served his country honorably in the US Navy after high school. He earned his Juris Doctorate degree from Columbia University and was a successful attorney for AT&T for many years, after his retirement from AT&T he was a law professor at St Elizabeth College.

In his younger years, Joseph enjoyed running and participating in road races. He enjoyed traveling the world with his wife Angela. He enjoyed and spoke several foreign languages. 

He was an avid sports fan and coached his children and grandchildren in sports.  He was a constant figure on the sidelines cheering and supporting his children then later his grandchildren. He was always up for a good debate and was happy to share his vast knowledge on many different topics.  He was a parishioner of St. Vincent Martyr Church in Madison. Above all, Joseph adored his family and will be deeply missed.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend the visitation for Joseph on Friday, January 5, 2024, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Madison Memorial Home, 159 Main Street, Madison.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, January 6, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Vincent Martyr Church, 26 Green Village Road, Madison. Those unable to attend the mass in-person may attend virtually by visiting www.svmnj.org

Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in East Hanover.
