Obituary of Jennifer Lyle

Jennifer Lyle, a lifelong Madison resident, was called home to the Lord on Friday, July 21, 2023, at St. Barnabas Medical Center in Livingston. She was 71.

Jennifer is survived by her devoted daughter, Dana Lyle of Charlotte, NC; her mother, Clorena Berry Woodson (Whitted) of Madison, NJ; five brothers, Herbert “Herbie” Woodson, Jr., David Woodson and his wife Sandra, John Woodson, Warren Woodson, and Robert Woodson and his wife DeAdrienne; three cherished grandchildren, Michael Irving, Richard Irving & Ananda Ratliff; three great-grandchildren, Rayne Irving, Amari Irving, Khalil Williams & great- granddaughter to be, Amira Rutland ; one nephew, Corey Woodson; one great nephew, Kayden Woodson; a host of cousins & extended family members, and many dear friends.

She was predeceased by her father, Herbert W. Woodson Sr.

Jennifer was born on July 8, 1952, in Morristown. She was a lifelong resident of Madison and 1970 graduate of Madison High School. She proudly lived in the same apartment on Waverly Place in Madison for 34 years, becoming well known by many Madison business owners for her friendly, good-hearted nature. She loved her hometown and being close to her family and lifelong friends.

Jennifer had a career at Crum and Forster Insurance in Morristown for over thirty years. She began working in the file room right out of high school, and through her dedication and hard work she rose through the ranks to become a Business Systems Analyst at the company. She forged many lasting friendships with several coworkers during her time there.

Jennifer was a wonderful and devoted mother, grandmother, daughter, and sister. She was always there for her family and friends through good and bad times. Jennifer went out of her way to help those who were troubled and less fortunate, never expecting anything in return. She accepted all people for who they were and never judged anyone.

Jennifer will be most remembered for her sweet disposition, positivity, and her smile, which could light up a room; her love of staying up late to watch horror movies and being referred to as “A cool lady”. Although she will be deeply missed by the family and friends, they take solace in knowing she is at peace with the Lord.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend a visitation for Jennifer from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Friday, August 18th, 2023, at the Madison Memorial Home, 159 Main Street, Madison. A funeral service will be held at 12:00 p.m. at the funeral home following the visitation.

Interment will be at Heavenly Rest Cemetery, East Hanover.

In lieu of flowers, charitable contributions may be made in Jennifer’s memory to a charity of your choice.
